Heartland Strategy

Objective:

To move all of your and your partner's markers into their respective HOMEs.

Playing a turn:

You start your turn by playing a card from your hand into the discard pile. Follow the rules for that card as you move your marker(s). You then end your turn by drawing card(s) until your hand has 5 cards. If you happen to forget to draw, you must wait until the end of your next turn to fill your hand.

Card Rules:

  • 2,3,4,5,6 - move one marker forward the number on the card
  • 7 - move one or two markers foward for a total of seven, must use a total of seven, no more, no less
  • 8 - move one marker eight spaces backwards
  • 9 - move one marker foward & one marker backwards for a total of nine
  • 10 - move 10 spaces forward
  • Jack - move 11 spaces forward, or start
  • Queen - move 12 spaces forward, or start
  • King - move 13 spaces forward, or start
  • Ace - move 1 or 11 spaces forward, or start
  • Joker - take a marker from START and replace a marker in play. If the marker is an opponent's, place it in the player's START. If the marker is an ally's, place it at the ally's entrance to HOME.

Game Setup:

Start this game by dealing each player five cards from two or three poker decks that include jokers. Place all markers in each player's START. Player to dealer's left takes the first turn and play continues clockwise.
